happy happy #4

dear hubster,
can you believe this was 4 years ago?!  seems crazy the amount of stuff we've done and been through in that short amount of time.  nevis, bahamas, london, ireland, paris, colorado, nyc, florida, boston, nh, just to name a few....skiing, dancing (sometimes at midnight in the basement after italian fest), triathlons, concerts and some phenomenal meals....i'm so glad that we've been keeping off the rocks and that we're really working to build a strong, fun, loving, life together.  i'm so proud of us, our accomplishments, our goals, our dreams, our insanity...and i love it.

and i love you.

xo, me

maple acres farm

since I've been trying to eat healthy lately I woke up with a craving for some nice fresh veggies...and for an awesome farmers market like the one I went to the other weekend in RI.  found this gem of a farm really close by with bushels and barrels of corn, peppers, eggplants, tomatoes, peaches....and so much gorgeous produce that it didn't even matter that the skies opened up with a nasty thunderstorm while we were perusing.  Oh and they have a giant field of zinnias that you can cut yourself if you want! Not necessarily my fave flower, but when you look out onto a field full of beautiful brightly colored flowers how can you not smile?!
Hope you had a weekend full of fun and fresh food!

cali bound

hip-hip-hooray i'm going to californ-eye-aye!  too much of a stretch to make that rhyme? whatevs, at least this blog is getting some activity right?!  so much in the queue but so little time to actually type.

so so excited that i'll be in san francisco the last week of august...even if it is for work.  i've only been to california once and here's all i know about that trip:

  • i was like 2 years old so it doesn't really count
  • i got to eat an ice cream sunday on the plane...so says the pictures
  • i went to the zoo and it was awesome!
  • i went to disneyland and got a minnie mouse hat with my name embroidered on the back
oh wait, that last one didn't actually happen...my parents went to disneyland and just bought me the hat.  they told me (or i incorrectly assumed) that i had gone.  legit believed i had been there until i was probably about high school age.  don't know why i never questioned the lack of pictures of me & minnie, haha.

any tips on what to see / where to eat / anything else awesome that i can't miss while i'm out there?!

trains, planes and automobiles: RI Air show Weekend

i guess it's the tomboy in me, but there's something about air shows that i cannot resist. i like them almost as much as i like carnivals and festivals! :) i remember years ago my babysitter at the time took me and my bro (maybe sis too, not sure if she existed yet) to the air show and it was such an exhilarating experience.  the rhode island one doesn't fail to delight, year after year, with the blue angels and many other awesome acts on the agenda.  this year we watched it from my aunt & uncle's backyard overlooking wickford harbor and although the day was very grey (and a little rainy), it was just as good as i remembered it!  it was the first time mz had ever seen an air show and i think he was impressed so hopefully we can get back there for it next year.
that weekend i also picked up the sister from the train station.  ahhh how i miss the days traveling to and from ri by rail.  darn amtrak, lower your prices please so i can justify taking the train again instead of driving the dreaded 95 new england corridor!  no pics of the train, so just close your eyes and use your imagination :).

plus marc-o took us for a ride in his car. which had been 'resting' in the garage for a few years but is now back in action...and better than ever!

DISCOUNT: Click Workshops

looking for a great way to improve your photography skills or just get more comfortable with your camera?  well, now's your chance!  Click Workshops is offering a great deal for anyone looking to take their intro to photography class in the Philadelphia area.

All you have to do is go to their website (www.clickworkshops.com), register for an Introduction to Digital Photography class and enter the coupon code referral and put my name in the 'person who referred you' field.  Discount ends 8/5/11!!

I attended this class back in may and loved it.  Christy Ruth was so informative, patient...and she had a southern twang, what's better than that!?  Because of Click Workshops I'm much more confident that I'm using my camera to her (not a typo, her name is Cam) full potential and I made the move to shooting in full manual mode instead of falling back to Aperture priority in tricky situations.  It was such a worthwhile afternoon and I can't recommend it enough.  Sign up now!!
